Ebay

On EBay I found many weird Items for sale from empty jars to guys selling their girlfriends. But I picked a corn flake. One corn flake for sale for the price of $7.50. “The ONLY “California Corn Flake” Coupon…..*L@@K*” Item Specifies: Weirdness, slightly unusual, Type, Cornflake, Item type, Kellogg’s the condition is uneaten and the subject area is Cereal Collectables. First off the cornflake does not even look like California maybe the top half of California but that’s it. Second the price for an entire box of Cornflakes does not cost $7.50. This is what the seller had to say:

“Though eBay's policy states that we cannot sell consumable food products, thus the reason we must auction a coupon. The coupon entitles the winning bidder to collect said flake at the auction's conclusion. Please note that we wish that bidding on the auction should be for the SERIOUS collector of state, and or cereal memorabilia alike. The flake is in no way consumable. The "Great State of California Corn Flake" will be shipped in a Macy's jewelry box. The flake will rest between two pieces of cotton to ensure flake does not move during transport. The winning bidder will recieve a coupon via e-mail.
The "Great State of Califonia Cornflake" was found in a box of Kellogg's Corn Flakes. It has not been doctored or changed, this is exactly how we found it. It would make a great conversation piece and a great piece of folk art.
Feel free to look in our profile to see where ALL the money will be going. That's right, we don't want any trips to anywhere special. We would just appriciate a chance to get our little girl something new instead of hand-me downs. We sure would like to think that it might be possible with the sale of this corn flake. Please give us the support, tell your friends and/or local news. Thank you!”

And Yes those spelling errors were already there I copy pasted right off of the site.

Once... and Video Review

Overall I am not the biggest fan of this video. On the other hand I really enjoyed the music. The video was defiantly different and I think that’s why I did not particularly like the video. I just did not really get the point. There was probably a deeper meaning to the video then just making a CD.
I loved that we got to watch movies directly relating to what we need to write about. It helped my thought process and gave me new ideas. My favorite movie we watched was with Woody Allan. Not only was I entertained but also introduced to ideas and concepts. In general each movie or video we watched helped me greatly.

Toys

I never had one toy I was particular about. I did have a huge toy room full of toys but I can’t really think of one that stuck with me. My easel was my favorite, I used it every day. I got it as a birthday present and it was most defiantly my favorite gift probably to this day. Every once in a while I pull it out to paint but I don’t really have the time or space anymore. Now that I think about it my favorite game/toy would be Tinker Toys and Link-in Logs. They are like the old school version of connects. Every time I would go visit my grandparents all my time was used on tinker toys and Link-in Logs. My grandpa and grandma were always so amazed with what I built and to this day my grandma still talks about it. The toys are in the same spot they use to be when I was a child, in my toy box, on the top shelf of the entry way closet.

Law and Order

Well I have to say my favorite show is CSI and Law and Order. It is defiantly entertaining and also somewhat educational. The episodes are usually based on something that has actually happened in recent times and are on issues going on now. It shows behind the scenes of what goes on in the investigation part of lawsuits and stuff. Also it shows the court trial and the process. Sometimes it goes as far in-depth as showing the coroners job and duties. It is not exactly perfect when it comes to the real life thing but I feel it does a really good entertainment reenactment of these issues. Specifically in Law and Order SVU, Special Victims it is most educational because it deals with kids and sexual related crimes, and I think it shows lots of life lesions and gives awareness so such criminal acts can be prevented.

Extreme Emotion

I can think of one situation when I have felt an extreme emotion. Actually it was like all the emotions at once and all were to the extremes. Through high school I grew very close to one of my teachers her name is Connie Manuel. I loved learning from her and hearing her life stories. In 2003 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She fought harder than anyone I know ever could. She beat it three times. I was there for her all four years in high school and it drew us even closer. She is my inspiration and thinking of her makes me dream even bigger. This past month I found out she was diagnosed again with cancer. I have never felt so upset in my life that someone so loving, giving, inspirational and deserving gets stuck with this cancer. Anger was my only emotion why why did this have to happen again and to all people her. She had gone through all of these treatments that are available and her body is basically trashed by the chemicals and can’t take any more. Confused I just don’t understand why they can’t do anything for her. Why is nothing working. After being mad and confused my only emotion left is pain and sorrow. My teacher my best friend my inspiration she is leaving me. How selfish right all I can think about is massing her. She has finally given up and is ready to rest. A woman who has fought all her life is finally backing down. Now she lays in her home in hospice. I think about her every night when I go to pray for her and all I can do is cry. Day after day they say this will be her last day but for some reason I feel she is still fighting inside. I have never felt such extreme emotions form being so angry and confused to being too sad and depressed. When she passes on and makes her way to heaven I think I will have the extreme emotion of happiness that she is finally relived and no longer feeling the physical or emotional pain.

Mass Media

My all time favorite quote “…You Lint licker…” it makes me laugh every time but I don’t really remember what the commercial is for. Some of my favorite commercials are the sonic commercials like the brain freeze one. I feel like the commercials are getting better every day like now you actually want to watch some of them. Unlike awhile back when you would just want to change the channel because the commercials are so boring. It seems like the commercials are turning into little TV shows, they have a bunch of commercials that go off or one. Like the Geico or Aflac commercials. Overall commercials are actually enjoyable now.

King vs. Obama

Right off the bat I feel Kings strong points were his personal experiences.  How he talks about his little girl wanting to go to the theme park and him having to explain to her that its whites only. No matter how he puts it he knows there is hate building inside her towards whites.  Also I feel him writing this letter in response to a statement made and from jail is a strong point.  It certainly captured my attention.  What I see as a week point is how long the letter got, eventually I started to loose interest and had to take a break.  The strong points Obama had were also his personal experiences his family back ground and how he can relate. I liked that he also talked about his family and heritage and how race effects him directly.  I did not think there were any real weak points except for the face that it was so long.
Of coarse there are still racial issues.  Race will always be somewhat of an issue.  Some of the things that king talked about are still prevalent in today’s society.  Most of the issues he spoke of are more sever of serious or sever like lynching, and the whole sign issue not being able to enter certain buildings or bathrooms.  Today we still have sit ins, walks and protests, not so much the violent issues.
They are both amazing statements and arguments but to me I feel Obama’s is more effective because I understand it more and it is also more related to me today.  Kings was great but again it’s the issues that were talked about and Obama is easier to relate to.
I think they both approached the racial issues in somewhat similar ways like involving their families and personal stories.  I feel King took the more spiritual root where Obama kind of took the moral approach.
