My all time favorite quote “…You Lint licker…” it makes me laugh every time but I don’t really remember what the commercial is for. Some of my favorite commercials are the sonic commercials like the brain freeze one. I feel like the commercials are getting better every day like now you actually want to watch some of them. Unlike awhile back when you would just want to change the channel because the commercials are so boring. It seems like the commercials are turning into little TV shows, they have a bunch of commercials that go off or one. Like the Geico or Aflac commercials. Overall commercials are actually enjoyable now.

King vs. Obama

Right off the bat I feel Kings strong points were his personal experiences.  How he talks about his little girl wanting to go to the theme park and him having to explain to her that its whites only. No matter how he puts it he knows there is hate building inside her towards whites.  Also I feel him writing this letter in response to a statement made and from jail is a strong point.  It certainly captured my attention.  What I see as a week point is how long the letter got, eventually I started to loose interest and had to take a break.  The strong points Obama had were also his personal experiences his family back ground and how he can relate. I liked that he also talked about his family and heritage and how race effects him directly.  I did not think there were any real weak points except for the face that it was so long. 

Of coarse there are still racial issues.  Race will always be somewhat of an issue.  Some of the things that king talked about are still prevalent in today’s society.  Most of the issues he spoke of are more sever of serious or sever like lynching, and the whole sign issue not being able to enter certain buildings or bathrooms.  Today we still have sit ins, walks and protests, not so much the violent issues.

They are both amazing statements and arguments but to me I feel Obama’s is more effective because I understand it more and it is also more related to me today.  Kings was great but again it’s the issues that were talked about and Obama is easier to relate to. 

I think they both approached the racial issues in somewhat similar ways like involving their families and personal stories.  I feel King took the more spiritual root where Obama kind of took the moral approach. 

Spring Break

On spring break Cassi went on a road trip to Texas. She was joined by her best friend Brittany. Leaving on Monday they had a long drive ahead of them. Driving to Texas takes approximately fifteen hours. But their destination was Galveston which is at the bottom of Texas. Just driving through the state of Texas took the girls about five hours.
The celebration began the second they got to the hotel. The five days and four nights consisted of the beautiful beach, amazing food and the crazy night life. The most exciting part of her vacation happened on the last day there. Brittany and Cassi decided to go sky diving. It just so happened to be the most beautiful and perfect day of their entire stay in Texas. Going up in the tiny plain with all the crazy sky divers she says was such a rush. She can only describe it as the best sixty seconds of her life. Overall Cassi had her first and most amazing road trip and spring break.

A Modest Proposal

A Modest Proposal was not so modest. I think this paper was completely absurd and I have a hard time even believing that this was even a real commentary. Everything he said was so morally wrong. I don’t even know what to say about this paper besides, is this joke? No way would this proposal ever work. I’m relieved to read that this was satire but also find it weird that he could get away with writing something like this back then.

On the other hand his writing was very impressive. It was hard for me to understand some of the big words that he left undefined and some of the slang was also confusing.

Go further was an interesting documentary. I feel like Woody Allan put the whole environmental issue on the map. At first this video seemed a little farfetched. Like it was just going to be a bunch of hippies riding a bus smoking pot. It was defiantly the opposite. I liked how they showed there bike trip and all the problems they had along the way and also how they kept it interesting by having the comedian on the bus. It was very informative and interesting. Not only did they reveal unknown facts like how there is blood and puss in milk but they showed ways to eat health and organically by preparing meals. Overall, I give this documentary a two thumbs up it was extremely informative and it made me want to live an organic life style.

My name

My full name Cassandra Lynn Row, my nickname is Cassi and that is what I go by. My mom originally wanted to name me Bailey or Emma, but my grandpa said he would disowned my mom if she named me Bailey and my dad did not like the name Emma. So somewhere along the way I got the name Cassandra. Cassi is my nickname and is spelt different then most would spell it. My mom’s reasoning for that was she wanted it to be unique. According to babynamesworld.com the name Cassandra is of Greek origin and it means she who entangles men. Babyhold.com says that it is of Greek origin and the Greek meaning is one who helps mankind. Cassandra is not my favorite name, I think it’s to fancy for everyday life but Cassi is more relaxed and fitting for my personality. My middle name Lynn I received from my mother who picked it because it is her sister’s middle name. Of coarse I got my last name from my Dad and that is Row.

Library Session...Concerens for paper.

I learned tons at the libarary session. Kellian helped me narrow down my topic and tought me how to find all sorts of information. Call numbers are what allow us to find a certin book, each call number has a certin genre or meaning. The cool new thing I learned about was the data bases, these are articles from the libraries home page and can get them from anywhere. I also learned about the librarys web site that I can use when Im at home too.

My concern for this paper is mainly citing things correctly. I pretty much have everything narrowed down now I just have to pick the sources I want to use.
